There are a few things you can do to get rid of crickets noise at night. One is to use a white noise machine to drown out the sound. You can also try using earplugs or a sound machine that plays nature sounds. If those don’t work, you may need to try getting a new home or moving your bedroom to a different part of the house.

No matter what method you choose, it’s important to stay patient and keep trying until you find something that works for you. It can be frustrating when you can’t get rid of cricket noise at night, but with a little bit of effort, you should be able to find a solution that works for you.

Crickets are not really bothersome by day

Crickets are not really bothersome by day, but the sound of their song at night can be annoying. There is no known species of cricket that sings during the day; they typically sing at dusk and throughout the night. This means it’s safe to assume they’re only making the noise between nightfall and sunrise.

Different types of crickets make different sounds, though they usually fall within a range of about 2 kHz (kilohertz) to 5 kHz. The loudest crickets are field crickets, which have been recorded as producing call notes up to 98 decibels at 3 feet away from them! To put this in perspective, normal conversation averages about 60 decibels of sound for reference purposes. That’s why dealing with cricket noise at night can be so frustrating.

There are some ways to mitigate the problem

There are some ways to mitigate the problem, however. One is to use a white noise machine or app to drown out the cricket song. This will not get rid of the crickets altogether, but it can help make their song less noticeable. If there are bushes or trees in close proximity to where you sleep, try trimming them back; this will reduce the number of places for crickets to hide and sing.

Finally, if all else fails, you can always try using a pest control service to eradicate the cricket population in your area. While this is an expensive solution, it may be worth it if cricket noise at night is keeping you from getting a good night’s sleep.

How to get rid of cricket noise at night?

Because you know how much this matters to so many people and because we too hate cricket noise during the night (even with earplugs), here is a list of potential solutions to stop crickets from chirping at night (although some of them do work better than others).

Note that if you don’t move around while sleeping or if you sleep on your side, these methods will most likely not help since they only mask noises while you’re moving, which also means that there’s no guarantee they’ll work for everyone (some people might still wake up to the cricket noise).

    Earplugs

One of the most popular solutions is using earplugs. This is a cheap and easy option, but it does have some drawbacks. First of all, you might not be able to find earplugs that fit your ears properly and block out all the noise. Second, if you move around in your sleep, the earplugs might come out, which means you’ll have to keep putting them back in. And finally, some people find that wearing earplugs makes them feel uncomfortable and disrupts their sleep quality.

    White noise machines

Another popular option is using a white noise machine. This is a device that generates a background sound (usually static or rain) that masks other noises. This can be a good option if you’re unable to use earplugs or if the cricket noise is still bothering you even after using them. The main drawback of white noise machines is that they can be quite expensive, and not everyone likes the sound of static or rain noises.

    Humidifiers

If you live in a dry climate, one potential solution to stop crickets from chirping at night is using a humidifier. Humidifiers add moisture to the air, which can help reduce the number of crickets that are attracted to your house. The downside of humidifiers is that they can be expensive to buy and maintain, and they might not work in very dry climates.

    Exterior ultrasonic repellers

There are a few external, ultrasonic devices that you can use to keep crickets out of your yard. These devices emit an ultrasound (sound above 20 kHz) that is supposed to deter the insects from coming into your house. However, like with using earplugs and white noise machines, there isn’t any real evidence that these kinds of devices work. Also, if the crickets in your area don’t produce chirping noises (which isn’t very likely), they won’t be able to hear the high-pitched sounds produced by the device and it will still fail at keeping them away.

    Exterminator service

If you live in an area where cricket noises aren’t natural and you’ve tried all of the above methods with no success, your last resort might be to call an exterminator. Exterminators use a variety of methods to get rid of insects, and they might be able to help you get rid of the cricket problem. The downside of using an exterminator is that it can be expensive, and it’s not a permanent solution, the crickets might come back after a few months.
